HELLO THERE! I'M DANIELLE VECCHIONE.

ABOUT DANIELLE VECCHIONE
Born and raised in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, I always knew I wanted to work with children in some capacity. My work as a swim coach helped me realize that I had a knack for teaching and the patience to work with children in group settings. I attended Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA in hopes to gain new experiences and a degree in Education. I have a passion for social justice, specifically surrounding gender and sexuality, which has led me to get my minor in Gender & Women's Studies. I try to bring that passion into my classroom by encouraging love and respect to all people.

PERSONAL STATEMENT
I am looking for a teaching position in a Pre-Kindergarten - 4th grade classroom. I have a tremendous amount of experience teaching and taking care of children. My strengths are responsibility, leadership positions, flexibility, my passion, and addressing important social justice issues with children. I am a quick learner and enjoy new challenges, and I am excited to be on a team where we can work together to help make the school the best learning environment it can be.

PLANNING AND PREPARATION
1A DEMONSTRATING KNOWLEDGE OF CONTENT AND PEDAGOGY
I will demonstrate a knowledge of the content my students will be learning by thoroughly reviewing every lesson topic in advance and not just copying the curriculum given to me. I will exhibit my knowledge of pedagogy by continuing my learning on best teaching practices even after getting my teacher certification.

CLASSROOM ENVIRONMENT
2A CREATING AN ENVIRONMENT OF RESPECT AND RAPPORT
When I have my own classroom I will focus on having strong relationships with my students in order to create a culture of mutual respect and understanding. I will hold myself accountable for being the best teacher I can be and ask my students to do the same. I want my students to be able to follow my directions but also enjoy coming to school every day. If I can be a role model about how to treat others kindly then hopefully the students will emulate that amongst each other. Also, having expectations and rules set up ahead of time so the students know how they are expected to act is going to be most beneficial.

INSTRUCTION
3A COMMUNICATING WITH STUDENTS
I plan on having a very open line of communication with my students, making myself available to them whenever they need me. I would try to create an environment where everyone feels comfortable asking questions and voicing their opinions and if they don't feel comfortable to do that in front of the whole class, they can come to me one on one. I’ve always thought about giving older students the option to write notes to me with any concerns or questions they may have, and that way I can address the situation however it may need to be.

PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
4A REFLECTING ON TEACHING
I plan on taking time to reflect on my teaching and what went well and what didn’t by going over my observations of how the students understood the lesson. This way I can then make my future lessons more effective based on what worked. I also will need to reflect on my own strengths and weaknesses and see what I need to practice.
